May 21, 2017: Steve Lenig takes SBRA Foot Brake and Top Beaver

The finals of Top Beaver matched Dave Carpenter on board his Ninja verses Steve Lenig’s Roadster. Dave had the tree, ..036 to .047, but Steve covered the dial better running a 5.367 on a 5.35 to Dave’s 5.972 on a 5.92.SP finalsSP sinnersAndrew Feltman, far lane, went back to back winning SBRA Super Pro over Brian Pecht. Brian took the tree, .024 to .029, but grabbed too much stripe running out the most with a 4.773 on a 5.14 to Andrew’s winning 5.137 on a 5.14. His ladies celebrate.FB finalsSteve Lenig faced Jason Weaver driving Wayne Skelly’s Camaro in the finals of SBRA Foot Brake. Jason had the better light, .008 to .022, but ran out the most giving the win over to Lenig. Steve ran a 5.367 on a 5.38 to Jason’s 6.523 on a 6.54 for the title.DSC_0063DSC_0066Dave Carpenter, far side, took the SBRA Bike title over Billy Maturo in a real heads up match. Dave ran right on his 5.92 dial with a 5.929 at 113.62 MPH to Billy’s 5.939 on a 5.92 at 117.30 MPH.

ANDREW FELTMAN IS TOP BEAVER!!

DSC_5984The Top ET finals matched Andrew Feltman, near, against Jeff Krushinskie. Andrew left first with a great .001 and ran a 5.217 on a 5.23 at 1230.43 MPH to Jeff’s red lighting -.008, 4.913 on a 4.87 at 140.40 MPH. Andrew defeated Street Champ, DJ Clark to take the Top Beaver title.DSC_5979DSC_0061The semi’s of Modified went to Nate Beideman’s Monte Carlo over Rusty Miller’s Nova. Nat went on to defeat Dave Novinger’s red lighting Vega in the finals.DSC_5874Dave “Da Carp” Carpenter won the IHRA Bike title over  Matt Hile’s Arctic Cat. Dave ran a 6.043 on a 6.04 at 106.57 MPH to Matt’s 6.807 on a 6.84.DSC_5966Street title was copped by DJ Clark, far, over Nikki Adams. 5th ANNUAL FE RACE & REUNION – WHAT A RACE!!

The 5th Annual FE Race and Reunion was one for the record book. We had the largest number of competitors, the largest crowd and had the most fun ever. Donna Marie and I are already making plans for an expanded 6th Annual FE R&R. Look for additional emphasis of the show cars plus Thursday being a “Move in Day”. We hope to see everyone here again.DSC_0110

 FINAL ROUND ACTION

DSC_2465Pro FE (8 low ET qualifiers 8.77 to 9.62) matched #1 qualifier Randy Spohn (8.77 @ 148.31) in his `58 Fairlane against Tony Silipina’s `65 Cyclone. Randy went red and Tony laid down a .008 R/T running a 9.413 on a 9.40 to Randy’s early 8.909 on a 8.84 for the title.DSC_5152

Hot FE (11.99 and faster) finals came down to Jim Day in his `70 Mustang verses Frank Pisani’s `66 Fairlane. Jim had the tree and took the title with a 9.761 on a 9.71 at 132.25 MPH to Frank’s 10.173 on a 10.16 at 132.02 MPH.

DSC_5157Cool FE (12.00 and up) found Jeff Sherrod in his `68 Torino going against perennial finalist, Chris Moses and his cool `54 Ford. Jeff took the tree and the title with a 12.361 on a 12.33 at 101.24 MPH to Chris’s 15.231 on a 15.12 at 87.29 MPH. DSC_2322In the featured Cobra Jet Shootout, Dan Woods, near took a semi finals win over Greg Essu’s `69 Mach 1 before moving on to upend Alan Platt’s `69 Mustang with a 10.537 on a 10.50 at 125.64 MPH.DSC_5138The bonus FE Bird Race, (a no charge race to win a custom made FE Bird, see winners photo) it was Larry Kortkamp’s popular `64 Ford “Battlestar Galactic” wagon taking the win over ‘poster boy’ Don Fotti’s CJ. Larry cut a great .005 and ran a 11.236 on a 11.06 at 106.81 MPH to Don’s 10.908 on a 10.53 at 124.56 MPH

Bob Klock took his Modified winning Challenger to a final round win in Top Beaver over Dale Rhoads Mustang by cutting a .003 to Dale’s .033 and running a 11.627 on a 11.61 to Dale’s run out 11.997 on a 12.01.

Steve Lenig driving Heather Gutschmidt’s Moonshine sponsored dragster took the Top ET title over “Northern Raider” Tom Seward’s dragster. Steve turned a 7.905 on a 7.88 (.027R/T) to stop Tom’s 7.446 on a 7.43 (.101 R/T)

“The Klockster” took the Modified title over Justin Badman’s Nova in a double breakout affair. Bob ran a 11.585 on a 11.65 to Justin’s 10.656 on a 10.68.

The IHRA Bike title was taken by John Royer on board his Suzuki over “Da Carp”. John ran a 10.499 on a 10.50 to Dave’s 9.456 on a 9.47. Talk about close!!

In the battle of former Champions it was Dale Rhoads in his trusty Mustang taking the Street title over Joe “Big House’ Clark’s Nova. Dale carded a 12.024 on a 12.03 at 110..57 MPH to Joe’s 13.243 on a 13.27.

The Hot Rod Trophy title went to Todd Stahl in his big Olds over Rick Narehood’s Mustang. Todd ran a 11.468 on a 11.42 at 113.53 MPH to Rick’s 11.760 on a 11.66.
