ANOTHER GREAT RACE
 6th Annual Flashback Friday

The Super Stock finals came down to a pair of MOPARS. Tom Doughty's `63 Max Wedge "Frustration" stopped Dave Stubbs `62 Polara 413 with a final round 11.28 on an 11.21 at 113.37 MPH to a close 12.01 on a 12.00 at 113.07 MPH.

Dennis Kohr made it to the semi's in his `63 Max Wedge Dodge but a late light cost him the finals when he lost to Stubbs with a right on 12.24 at 111.39 MPH.

A pair of favorites made a great side by side time shot. Mr. 409, Ken Walsh, and Paul Hillier in his 427 Fairlane had the front ends way up in a hard launch. They tripped the clocks with a 10.23 to a 10.21. Ken had to leave before eliminations as he had to be in Chicago at 10:00 AM on Saturday. But he wanted to come up and give his fans a show before he departed. Look to see Mr. 409 at the Nostalgia Nationals.

Bob Schatz returned from his great runner up showing at the Nostalgia Nationals in his A/FX Hemi and was looking good. He lost a close one in round one to Tom Doughty's 426 Plymouth when both cars ran just off their index. Isn't this car too cool?

Ken Montgomery was the odds on favorite to take the title but a red light ended his chances when he ran up against Dave Stubbs. Ken set low ET in his original SS/B
426 Hemi with a 9.36 at 146.65 MPH. He'll be back, count on it.

Ben Oberchain, in his Jack of Diamonds `64 Dodge dropped a tough one to Steve Reasbeck's `65 Dodge Hemi. Steve took the win with a 11.28 on a 11.02.

Last years runner up, Ron McClelland in his `66 Dodge drew a red light in round one losing to eventual runner up Dave Stubbs. The Hemi ran a 10.23 at 131.72 MPH.

Tom Taylor's immaculate `62 Savoy powered by a 413 Max Wedge looks brand new.

Tim the tool man Taylor, Tom's son, got stopped by George Gudats SS/C AMX in a close race. The Max Wedge had the horse power but lost on a hole shot.

Defending champion, Chet Cook, in his 427 Impala took a first round win over Allen George's 409 but lost in the next round to Craig Balmer when he went red.

Kenny Montgomery dispatched George Gudat's AMX in round two with a 9.46 on a 9.36 at 129.88 MPH. The 390 AMC was close with his 10.92 on a 10.90 at 121.90 MPH.

Steve Reasbeck's new hybrid Hemi Dodge, it burns gas and rubber!!

Craig Balmer's 426 Max Wedge defeated Joe Durkee's Mopar Station Wagon in round one., Chet Cook in round two and then fouled to Dennis Kohr in the third round.

Nostalgia Nationals  Champ, Richard Barnhart in his A/FX  `66 GTO lost to Keith Wynn's beautiful `63 Plymouth in round one when he ran under his index.

Keith Wynn took a round one win before falling to Stubbs 413 Dodge in round two.

Joe Durkee has one of the most unique Super Stockers ever. A `62 Dart powered by a 413 Max Wedge. I wonder who ordered this grocery getter back in 1962.

Allen George in his 409 lays down a good pass over Tim Taylor in time trials.
