FLASHBACK WEEKEND SUNDAY August 16, 2009 GUNNER SHOOTS TO TOP BEAVER Gunner Miller is out of the gate first in his 355 Nova over Dr. Rick Bunting's Ninja in the quest for the Top Beaver title. Dave cut a .035 light and ran a 12.19 on a 12.18 at 108.94 MPH to stop Rick's .012 light and a run out of 8.546 on a 8.57 at 147.10 MPH. Gunner and the family took a well deserved win. Jason Derr had his dragster wired all day long. When he was late his car would pick it up and run right on the number. In the finals Steve Miller foot braked his Firebird with a better .048 but ran out with a 10.88 on a 10.91 while JD's .066 R/T coupled with a right on 7.80 at 176.12 MPH gave him the win. Dennis Kohr's Hemi Dodge cut a better light, .030 to .048 over Lou Drayer's Chevette but it wasn't enough as Lew took the stripe and the win with a 9.25 on a 9.23 at 145.58 MPH to Dennis's 11.12 on a 11.08 at 123.67 MPH. The Doc is out on the King in the IHRA Bike finals with a better light. Doc than put it right on the number with a 8.567 on an 8.56 at 148.24 MPH to Ed's run out 8.573 on an 8.60 at 164.83 MPH to take the title. Street eliminator finals found Jackie Kohr is out first in her 340 Dart but Gunner did a better toe tapping job at the finish line with both drivers off their dial by a bunch. Gunner won with a 12.33 on a 12.18 to Jackie's 13.66 on a 13.34. Hot Rod Trophy killer's Derek Hartley and Ray Lear met in the finals with Ray picking up the win after Derek went red. Ray laid down a 13.24 on a 13.17 at 105.96 MPH for the title.  In the TCR finals, Carly Smith is out first in her Firebird to a break out pass. Mark Frank gathered it all up and took the win with a 15.05 on a 15.10 at 87.71 MPH to Girlies 16.435 on a 16.53 at 84.06 MPH. With almost identical lights two of the toughest faced it off in the finals of JR Dragster. Jake Wood's Repozest ran out the least and took the win  with a 7.895 on a 7.90 at 80.07 MPH to DJ's 9.419 on a 9.45 at 67.98 MPH. N.E.T.O. Comp fell to the legendary engine builder, Tony Feil in his classic 62 Corvette over Chris Craft's beautiful 55 Chevy with a 8.54 on an 8.50 at 163.99 MPH to Chris's 9.09 on a 9.00 at 152.13 MPH. N.E.T.O. Nostalgia finals went to Jody Kenly in his sharp 72 Challenger over Paula Nappi's 79 Corvette with a run of 10.63 on a 10.57 at 123.72 MPH to Paula's 12.62 on a 12.56 at 112.76 MPH. BONUS SHOTS Brian Vollman and Steve Miller had it made in the shade. Bob Roles and Dennis Kohr go at each other in their Hemi cars. Gunner dropped JD in round one of Top Beaver with a 12.20 on a 12.18. Dr. Rick ran down Lou Drayer's Chevette in the first round of Top Beaver after Lou drew a -.020 red light. Doc's 8.57 on an 8.56 would've been tough to beat. Jake Wood, near,  closed the gap and took the win over DJ Clark in JR. King Ed Fetterolf Mr. Friday Night, Brian Snyder, asking BSD starter, Jimmy Ray Wray, if he was ready to pick up the pieces on the Nitrous pass he just made. TCR points leader, Carly "Girlie" Smith. Doc stopped to collect his "Ethel hug". Kids and the Beaver, it just goes together. WINNERS CIRCLE Top champion and points leader, Jason Derr, got caught good by Dennis. Modified Champion, Lou Drayer with wife, Cleo, got his Beaver baptism by Deacon Kohr on a sweltering 90 degree day. Lou, that looks cold. Dennis Kohr caught Gunner napping. He never saw it coming. Jake Wood with dad and mom and his Iron Tree for winning JR Dragster. Deacon Kohr got in a perfect 3 point long shot on Jake. Dr. Rick Bunting was heading out the gate with his new Iron Tree after taking the IHRA Bike title over another stellar field. Doc is closing in on the points leader, Kenny Kauffman with four racing remaining in the chase. Ray Lear and his family, took the Hot rod Trophy title again in his Camaro. Mark Frank with mom and dad, took the Iron tree in Beaver's TCR eliminator. N.E.T.O. Nostalgia runner up was Paula Nappi in her street driven Corvette.
